Constructed in 1783 by a wealthy spice merchant, this palace was historically named 'Palacio Bela Vista' due to its magnificent view over the city & the Tagus River. In more recent times, the palace served as the reception of royalty, nobility & celebrities including Ian Fleming (author of the James Bond novels), Jacqueline Kennedy, Aristotle Onassis & many others.
